Hardwood floor refinishing is a full sanding and recoating process that takes your floors all the way down to bare wood. Surface wear, scratches, stains, and old finish are removed completely, leaving a clean foundation for a fresh protective coat. It is the right call when your floors have damage that goes deeper than the surface, and done properly, it can add decades of life to solid hardwood.

What Is Hardwood Floor Refinishing?

Sanding

Professional equipment is used to sand the floor down through the existing finish, removing scratches and surface wear until bare wood is exposed. Multiple grits of sandpaper are worked through in sequence to leave a smooth, even surface that is ready for stain or finish.

Staining (optional)

If you want to change the color of your floors, stain is applied after sanding. Before the project starts, we walk through color and finish options with you so you know exactly what to expect when the job is done.

Several coats of durable protective finish are applied to the bare wood, with light sanding between each coat. The result is a surface that is smooth, even, and built to hold up to daily life for years to come.

Finish Application

Most refinishing projects take three to five days from start to finish, including the dry time needed before furniture can be moved back in.
